12.18.2006 ( 8:49:00 PM ) kim i just wanna say this first it's friggin' cold here! ![]() as some might say, i know this is an incredibly awful image, but maybe it gives some idea of the wind strength, which was a major factor in the day's frigidity. plus also we've learned that unfortunate things can result when you try to push a toy camera, or a sick old kimmi, too far. we'll prolly forget by morning, but for now we've learned. ![]() again. bad. bad foto. go to your darkroom. um. oh. no, little cheap silk jacket, not adequate, 'specially since i stayed out way longer than intended and didn't get back til 5:30 an hour after setting of such sun as there was. coulda been worse. i saw lotsa shivering couples in shorts and t-shirts, bitterly complaining that they could be warmer back in oklahoma, or ohio, or... but i also heard from a native ("been here all my life". seems to be an important line here.) he said this was the coldest day he can remember here ever. i doubt the pleasant young has ever had a legal alcoholic beverage, and even in the limited years thus implied there were almost certainly colder days. but maybe he didn't go out on those days dressed like a tourist. anyway. it's way late, i'm still way tired even after a nap. and i gotta go ice my knees and ankles. peace be on each and every. comment here forum

Looks like the gods of weather slammed the big door shut right after you went through the Rockies. I guess it was divine providence that you were on that side of the great divide when the storm hit....
I hope Vegas is going to live up to its reputation of dry sunny climate all year round? Global cooling be damned. Anyway you're looking summery, if blurred. Looking forward to more news and details of your new home. Have a very good Christmas, Kim, and may the new year smile on you every day.
How's the Wx in NV? Nothing but gray skies and drizzle here today. But hey, that makes a hellava lot of difference to the heat and dust which we have had of late. Yesterday was great gliding weather. It had rained the day before so there was moisture on the ground which rose with the thermals. Gray clouds marked the top of each thermal so it was easy to find lift. Look for a gray cloud and fly under it and there would be a thermal.
Oh, and BTW, happy Y'all Tide etc. My kids are coming over tomorrow. Barramunda and prawns for Julia. Steak for Hugh. Bubbly white wine for me.

I bought them each a copy of the Bible and a copy of the Koran. Figured they might need the reference books in the upcoming decade! Have a good one. |
